Artificial spot lighting has been placed above the book shelves in this study area to add to the strip and natural lighting. Soft light reflects off the doomed and panelled ceiling illuminating and sound proofing the area. Bench type tables with electricity points and low screens offer the user private and quiet work areas. Bright colours are kept to a minimum in this area with neutral colours and wood tones being used.

Many regulars know that I like to get "lost" in cities and find little secrets here or there. But, that’s often in the older, charming part of cities. I rarely go into the commercial or mega-residential areas because sometimes they are more sterile or less interesting. Well, this part of Beijing is sort of a neo-industrial jungle of wild architecture and unexpected forms of light. There are dozens of brand-new buildings, each with interesting designs and countless angles. I ended up staying in this area deep into the night.

Fort Gratiot Light & Keepers Cottage

The Fort Gratiot Lighthouse is the oldest surviving lighthouse in Michigan.
Originally completed in 1825, the first light collapsed during a storm in 1828. A rebuild of the light in 1829 forms the base of the current structure – it was further heightened from the original 74 feet to the current 86 feet in the 1860′s.
The red brick duplex was added for the light keeper and his assistant in 1874 and this lighthouse was manned until 1933 when it was coverted to an automated light. A green flashing light with a range of 17 miles is now housed in the light chamber of the tower.
In 1971 the Michigan Historical Commission designated the Fort Gratiot Light an historic site.

First snow light

[Edit: I originally said "there's no particular photographic merit in this" - but I've now been told otherwise!!! WelI I always liked it (and was happy to post it) - I just wasn't sure if it was especially "interesting" in the Flickr sense!? if the good people of Flickr say it has the m-word then I'm even happier!! ]

This is *exactly" how it looked. Apart from a crop (and maybe a sharpness tweek) this straight out of the camera. An amazing light.

This is the first snow we’ve had (not much – but enough to enduce panic in the South of England!!) . And the snow (and the cold air) transformed the lighting in my street. And the road was strangely reflective – maybe a thin film of salt water does that when it’s just below zero???

The another thing is that it records people having been up and about (taken at 7:30 and not 8:30 like my EXIF data says!). The postman on his bike, a few brave cycling commuters, a few more on foot – and a vehicle that appears to have missed the road completely for some reason.

Anyway – this is all very boring. What you should be doing is your entry into the latest "colouring" competition!!!!!
